Some obstacles demand more than a strong takeoff. Whiskey Riff has highlighted a whitetail deer attempting to clear a tall fence—and falling well short of the target. The outlet presents the attempt as a comic mismatch between an ambitious jump and an unforgiving obstacle.
There’s good reason to expect a deer to make an impressive leap. According to Whiskey Riff, whitetails have powerful hindquarters that can propel them as high as eight feet from an almost stationary position. They can also sprint at 35 to 40 mph when fleeing predators such as coyotes, mountain lions and wolves. Those abilities are formidable, but this fence proved beyond one deer's reach.
