Bob Dylan brought “Not Dark Yet” back to the stage for the first time in seven years—and gave it a different rhythmic footing. According to Rolling Stone, his new take on the Time Out of Mind track trimmed roughly two minutes and introduced a reggae flavor.
That shift changed more than the running time. Rolling Stone describes a performance that softened the oppressive mood surrounding some of Dylan’s bleakest writing. The words still carried their weight, but the arrangement offered a less somber setting: a return built around reinterpretation rather than faithful reproduction.
