George Strait has another honor to his name. According to Wide Open Country, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame has awarded the 74-year-old country star its Career Maker honor, adding a new distinction to his celebrated career.
Strait’s catalog offers plenty of reasons to revisit that legacy, from “Amarillo by Morning” to “Write This Down” and “I Cross My Heart.” Those songs showcase the connection between a memorable composition and the voice that makes it resonate—a fitting lens through which to appreciate recognition from an institution devoted to songwriters.
