Glen Hansard Takes On The Pogues’ ‘Bottle Of Smoke’

Glen Hansard has recorded a cover of The Pogues’ “Bottle Of Smoke,” according to Spin. The song brings Hansard into the band’s repertoire while drawing attention to his connection with Shane MacGowan.

That personal link gives the recording a focus beyond the familiar title: this is an artist revisiting music with a connection to his own life. Spin frames the new rendition around that continuing bond, making MacGowan central to the story of Hansard’s cover.
