Gracie Abrams gave her Saturday Night Live appearance a cinematic Halloween twist, taking inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. According to Deadline, the two-time Grammy nominee performed for the Studio 8H audience in costumes referencing both Leonardo DiCaprio’s Romeo and Claire Danes’ Juliet.
Rather than choosing just one character, Abrams brought both lovers into her performance wardrobe. The double tribute paired her live singing with a nod to Luhrmann’s highly stylized take on Shakespeare’s tragedy, making the costumes part of the night’s appeal.
