The release marks Mayer’s first new solo material since his 2021 album, Sob Rock.
14d ago · The Music Loop Staff
John Mayer is back with “Tom and Jerry,” opening a new chapter in his solo catalog. According to Consequence, the single is his first new solo release since Sob Rock arrived in 2021.
That gap makes this a notable release for listeners who have been waiting for Mayer’s next move as a recording artist. For now, the news centers on the song itself: Consequence’s report announces the single, but the supplied details do not establish a new album or a broader rollout.
Why it matters
“Tom and Jerry” ends a stretch without new solo material from Mayer and gives fans a fresh release beyond the Sob Rock era.
