Stevie Wonder has filed a lawsuit seeking to evict Carmen Efferson from his Hollywood Hills home, according to Rolling Stone. Efferson, whom the publication describes as reportedly a former fiancée of the singer, has occupied the property rent-free for 38 years.
Rolling Stone reports that Efferson’s stay began in 1988 under an oral agreement. That longstanding arrangement reportedly broke down over a dispute involving insurance inspectors, bringing a private housing matter into court. The report describes Wonder’s request for eviction, not a completed removal or a court ruling in his favor.
